29-year-old pianist Ran Dank deploys his brilliant technique with astonishing energy and intensity, captivating audiences and critics alike.  His 2011-12 season includes the Prokofiev Concerto No. 2 at Lincoln Center in the Young Concert Artists Gala Evening.  He also appears as soloist with the Ann Arbor, Hilton Head, and Longwood symphonies, as well as in recitals in Pittsburgh, Washington DC, San Juan (PR), and in a special concert at New York’s Miller Theatre performing Tobias Picker’s “Keys to the City.”

Mr. Dank has been presented by the Washington Performing Arts Society’s prestigious Hayes Piano Series at the Kennedy Center, the Morgan Library and Museum in New York, as soloist with the Phoenix, Albany (GA), and Pensacola (FL) symphonies, among others, and as a chamber musician with the Seattle Chamber Music Festival. In his native Israel, Mr. Dank has soloed with the symphony orchestras of Jerusalem, Rishon Lezion and Raanan and at the Israel Festival in Jerusalem, where he performed the complete Piano Sonatas of Scriabin.  He has been heard at the Chopin Festival in Warsaw, and at Finland’s Mäntta Festival for Virtuoso Pianists.

Recipient of the Sander Buchman Memorial First Prize of the 2009 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, Mr. Dank made his New York debut in the Jerome L. Greene Foundation Concert.  At the Auditions, he was also honored with the John Browning Memorial Prize, the Slomovic Orchestra Soloist Prize, the Albany Symphony Prize (GA), the Embassy Series Prize for a concert in Washington DC, and the Saint Vincent College Bronder Prize for Piano (PA).

Additional awards include Second Prize at the 2010 Naumburg Piano Competition, and First Prize in the 2008 Hilton Head Piano Competition. Mr. Dank is the recipient of grants from the Arthur Foundation and the America-Israel Cultural Foundation.

Born in Israel in 1982, Mr. Dank started piano lessons at the age of seven.  He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the Rubin Academy of Music at Tel Aviv University, where he studied with Emanuel Krasovsky, and received his Master’s degree from the Juilliard School where he worked with Emanuel Ax and Joseph Kalichstein (both YCA Alumni) and the Artist Diploma, under Robert McDonald.  He is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree with Ursula Oppens and Richard Goode (also both YCA Alumni) at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY).
